cannot send text message to Chinese phone numbers?

[update] so i figure this out myself but there’s no way to delete this post. so i will just let anyone interested know that no you cannot send SMS through to Chinese phone numbers, at least those managed by one of the largest carriers. Any potential buyers beware….and think about your workarounds….

There are a lot of restrictions and filters in place when it comes to CN telecoms that might be prohibiting the message from being delivered to the recipient from the provider. It may also be an issue of the location link that's being included in the message. You can try disabling the location link to see if that allows the message to go through. For steps, see - Editing inReach SMS Message Coordinates, Map, and Signature Settings

However, if SMS messaging does not work with a provider in certain countries, email is the best option. Sending a Message to an inReach Device.

Yeah and it might have been a fairly recent development because I used to be able to send sms just fine. I also disabled that short link as soon as I set up my account but it didn’t do much. Also, there doesn’t seem to be any means to delete the short link from the check in messages, but in any case with or without the link SMS will not get through. I’m just documenting these for those people who might be struggling with this as well.
