One Garmin Subscription - two phone numbers

I've read through the link. What I still don't understand: Can you change to a friends phone while a subscription continues to run AND the friend can also use the messenger app (by following the process as described in the link)?

You are able to pair the device with any phone (again only one phone at a time) however, If the inReach Messenger needs to be paired with a different mobile phone, it must have the connection to the original phone and its phone number removed. Pairing the inReach Messenger to a Different Mobile Phone.

One more question if I may. Does the phone connected to the messenger need to have the SIM card included? Or in other words, can you connect a phone with a SIM card and then remove it (while phone continues to work with the messenger)

It is not advised to use without a SIM card due to authorization of the phone number connected.
