Golf gpx download file failure

I usually download the golf activity file as a gpx (not scorecard file). Over the last 3 weeks, I get a message that file is too large. To check, today I downloaded a tcx file that showed 7.8 mb.

Ive been downloading the gpx file successfully since 2022. I’m downloading using Connect Web version

  • Yeah the file size you mentioned on your post is to large to export from the web version of Garmin Connect, and would have to converted to a .FIT file to export from the website. Re-selecting the gear and selecting the "Export File" option would be required for that specific golf activity. The file will this save as a compressed .Zip to access the .FIT. A conversion tool would then be needed to convert the .FIT file to another type you are wanting externally from our platform.

Depending on the length of the activity, if the file size is large enough it will display the error you mentioned seeing on the Connect website.

  • It’s strange that it’s been fine for over 3 years and all of a sudden it can’t export.
I checked a golf game (25 May) that exported gpx successfully. It’s about 4.4 mb and the corresponding tcx file is 7.8 mb. It’s weird that Connect can export a 7.8 mb file successfully but a 4.4 mb is too large.

    I’ll find a file converter

  • I understand the concern after not experiencing the alert previously. I do not have a specific reason to provide as to the "why" on the change...however, the website may have undergone the change to prevent extra upload/download traffic on the web server.

If I find any additional information, I will be sure to relay that over to you as any info becomes available
