Venu 3, Golf App Autoshot not working

I can’t remember if there was a recent software update on my Venu 3 in the past week but I can’t get the auto shot to function using the Garmin Golf, it just stopped working literally the last couple days, anyone else having this issue or know a fix?

  • I’m having the same problem.  Have a ticket with product support.

    Any updates on issue resolution?

I’m currently running 16.05.  It fixed one problem but this one was not fixed.

Also, I’m thinking of upgrading to Venu 4.  Does this problem exist for that product also?

  • Issues with AutoShot was fixed through software update 16.05. Confirm you have scoring enabled or try power cycling your watch > Sync with the Garmin Connect mobile app and access the Garmin Golf app to confirm your Venu is showing connected in the Profile > My Devices section of the app.

Verify that you are also wearing your watch on the top side of lead wrist and check the User Profile menu on your watch to confirm the wrist is set correctly as well.

  • Cody - this problem is not fixed with 16.05.

This weekend I played 2 rounds following the procedures you outlined earlier in this thread.  Both rounds and auto shots were saved and showed up on connect and golf app.

This morning I played a round without following this procedure.  At the end of the round the activity was save and then the Venu rebooted.  Looking at connect, only the activity appeared, the shot map did not.  I started a new round and it asked me if I wanted to resume.  I said yes and the round continued.  I immediately saved it.  The score card was saved but the shot map is missing, again.

I may be mixing features autoshot and shot maps, but either way, when I try to save a round, it aborts and reboots.

I have since upgraded 16.07.  Hope this update works.

  • While the concern you outlined does involve the AutoShot data, the issue is not related to the AutoShot issue on this thread. The issue on this thread is in-relation to AutoShot not working at all from the start of the activity if the watch had been powered on for multiple days in a row, which then required the watch to be powered off by the user and then rebooted prior to starting a golf activity to allow for AutoShot to work at all.

Beta 15.05 contained the public beta program fix for the Venu 3/3S for this thread's specific AutoShot issue, and Software Version 16.05 contained the public release with the fix for this specific concern.

The concern you outlined is typically a symptom of the storage allocated on your watch getting full in certain areas resulting in files saving to the watch becoming incomplete or missing information due storage needing cleaned up on the watch. The Venu 3 has a total of around 7GB with 4GB of storage being used for just the device software when the watch is new and then the rest of the storage being allocated for the features on the device. , with storage being allocated for certain features.

Try clearing out activities if you have a ton of them accumulated on your watch to free up some space and then power cycle the Venu off and back on check and see if the issue is still occurring going forrward. If you continue to have the concern, try opening Golf Settings > Switch "Record as activity" off and then see if you continue having issues with the watch rebooting when saving with record activity off vs on and then communicate to me or Garmin Support if you continue to see the issue occur.

For further conversation on your specific concern regarding the watch rebooting when saving your golf round, and then losing AutoShot data, please create a new post per the Garmin Forums Terms of Use.
