Garmin app not tracking golf shot by shot

After synching round to iPhone Golf App to my Fenix 8, I see the scores but no hole by hole shot distances overlayed on the graphical hole layout. It worked a few rounds weeks ago but it is not working now. Can help?

  • Ensure during the round, that all of the suggestions outlined on the My Garmin Golf Watch Is Not Detecting Shots Automatically have been followed.

Prior to your next round, UP/MENU button on middle left side to open quick access menu > Select "Watch Settings" > Then tap the "User Profile" option on the next menu > In the User Profile menu, scroll down to the "Wrist" section > Confirm the wrist is set to "Left" (if using right-handed Golf clubs) or "Right" (if using left-handed golf clubs) to ensure the watch can properly detect back swing, down swing, and impact of the club face hitting the ball through the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors built into the watch.

During the round, ensure Score/Stat Tracking info is entered from each previous hole before teeing off on the next hole. If you are using the Club Prompt feature (that displays your full club list after a shot is detected to assign the shot to a club) ensure that you have confirmed the club from the list on the screen prior to taking another shot...as taking another shot while the club list, stat tracking, scoring, or previous hole info is displayed on the watch will result in issues with the AutosShot missing data.

Another factor to consider, if you have installed a different band onto your fenix 8 than the silicone band the watch came with...the fit or design of the band (if 3rd party, or not a QuickFit 26 band) can result in shots not getting detected due to the how the band is causing the watch to sit on your wrist with the fit not being adequate for the sensors built into the watch to track accurately.

If you continue to have concerns after following the steps outlined above, please contact Garmin Support to speak with a specialist to determine what else may be causing the concern.
