Why only 10 round history?

I have noticed that the garmin golf app only shows you statistics for your past 10 rounds. All other shot tracking apps let you chose to show data based on 10 rounds, 20 rounds or the calendar year. I think this would be helpful since 10 rounds is an extremely small sample size.

  • The basis of using the last 10 rounds allows recent data on your performance to be used to asses whether you are improving, declining, or staying consistent.

Older scorecard data can easily become irrelevant as your recent performance during rounds gives a current performance timestamp of metrics to more accurately gauge performance. This is evident as players get new clubs, join a new golf club, make a change in their swing, recovery from injury/illness, or changes in seasonal weather affecting the performance of the golf course condition.

This also allows for comparison of all other Garmin Golf users, or Garmin Golf users with a similar handicap to yours following strokes gained analysis.

  • I understand why you offer 10 rounds of history but why not ALSO offer 20 round history, which is what the handicap index tracks, and calendar year history, like your competitors do. Please pass this request along since it does not seem that hard to implement.

  • I certainly understand where you are coming from in wanting more history.

The Garmin Golf handicap system is split between newer devices compatible with the World Handicap System, and the devices not compatible with WHS calculate handicap based on the 8 lowest scores from the last 20 scorecards uploaded to the account. More info here
