Version 3

Thank you for the update!

Question to Garmin,  other than looking better there doesn’t seem to be any new functionality.

So why spending time for a cosmetic update and not including any of the features that have been requested on this forum for as long as I can remember?

  • Beginning November 5th, 2024:

Garmin Golf app version 3.0 for Android/iOS rolled out to users. Please check for updates periodically for the alert once version 3.0 is showing available to install through the iOS App Store, and Google Play.

The Garmin Golf app 3.0 update facelift information is detailed with the following description outlined below:

    • Garmin Golf has a new look. The redesigned home screen lets you view all of your scorecards and golf activities in one location.
    • The restructured navigation makes it easier to find the round, stat or feature you're looking for.
    • The updated profile view lets you track all your gear, clubs, devices and more in one convenient location.

Users are encouraged to regular check for any new updates as they become available...as opportunities for new features and improvements are considered on a continuous basis by Garmin.

  • Update also makes the app unusable to link an R10 with some IPads (mine is an IPad Pro).  I was told by support earlier that the R10 and Garmin Golf app are not designed to work with Ipads or tablets--only mobile phones.

  • Unfortunately, iPad and Tablet use has never been supported for the Garmin Golf app. Users may have been able to install the Garmin Golf app on newer iPads due to the Golf app being available in the iOS App Store, but the use on iPad has not been supported by Garmin.

For context, below are a couple of links to threads from a couple of years ago regarding iPad use for historical reference if needed:

  • iPad worked perfectly with older version.  Can I download the previous version?  iPhone waaay too small !

  • There is currently no way to revert the software back to a previous version.

I have sent you a direct message requesting some additional information though to forward your feedback.

Please keep an eye out for the message icon box in the upper right corner of the forums site for my message in your inbox.

    - Thank you

  • I am having the same issue. Is there any method to fix the software not working on older devices?

  • If using an iPad, there is not a solution at this time due to tablets not being compatible or supported for use with the Garmin Golf app...other than setting up through a smartphone as designed for use.

We are in the process of looking further into reports from customers regarding iPad use, and I am gathering additional info from those reporting the concern to forward to our quality & engineering team to consider for future improvements.

I have sent you a direct message requesting some info from you. Please keep an eye out for the message inbox icon in the upper right side of the forums site.

    - Thank you

  • My iPad doesn’t work either.  Older version worked fine. New version freeze after sigh in.

  • Taking away tablet functionality when it's been working fine on tablets for 3 years is unacceptable. What was Garmin thinking? What recourse do we have?

  • Updated November 15th, 2024:

The Garmin Golf app has never support tablet compatibility, as some users may have been able to get past the incompatibility on certain models of iPads on older Garmin Golf app versions.

There has been a new update to the Garmin Golf app, version 3.0.1 that may work for certain users on the latest update...however, please keep in mind that compatibility listed for the Garmin Golf app will still not contain iPad or tablet use listed as supported devices for the Garmin Golf app at this time.
