Get yardage displays from the tee without being physically present on the tee?

I am a new owner of the z82 and plan to use it with the Garmin Golf app on iPad/iPhone. The 2D displays are different when I am not near a selected course. When I select Play Golf on the z82 and select a course the 2D overlay shows the yardages from the tee box even though I am nowhere near it. It seems to assume that I am standing on the tee box for every hole as I progress through the holes. I like this and plan to use it to prepare a strategy for my tee shots before a planned game. The Golf app, however, does not display any yardages; it does not position me on the tee. I would like to be able to use the larger and more convenient display of the iPad for preparing my tee shot strategies. Is there any way to force yardage displays from the tee on the golf app without being physically present on the tee?

  • By default, if you select the Play Golf option on the Approach Z82 and select a course, the device is going to display the default front, middle, and back distances from the tee box. This will show when not located at the course by design. Once you are at the golf course and select the Play Golf option...the device will then work in the manner outlined in the info below.

The distances displayed off to the side are referencing the front, middle and back distances to the green. As you progress further away from the tee box towards the green, they decrease according to your GPS location on the course map. The map does not show any graphic specific to your current location on the course in terms of an icon, it always defaults to the front, middle and back distances to the green from where you are standing on the hole.

The Garmin Golf app on a mobile device will not display distance information, as the information must be referenced from the actual golf device being used. You would not be able to use the Garmin Golf app to display course information or distances in a larger format.
