Golf Shot Map Not Working after Epix Update 23.18

Garmin Golf Shot Map not working or showing in the app after the Epix Gen 2 update 23.18

Has anyone else experienced this after the update? I can see the shot maps of the rounds played before the update, but no option to see shot maps for rounds played after the update.

  • Played with my watch a bit more...started a new round, which took me to 'you have a current round in progress'.  So I ended and resaved it.  Scorecard now is available but the Shotmaps still do not show.

  • That is exactly what happend the first time before I started this thread. Only a walking/steps activity saved. The other times the scorecard at least saved, but without the map data.

Wow this is really frustrating, I was looking forward to my round this weekend with a watch working.

I actually took like a 3min video last weekend showing how I try to save and round and hiw watch reboots. Waiting for it to turn back on. Starting a golf round, whiles the again having save the current round that caused the reboot.

I'm not sure if the issue is consistent across all watches though. My Epix Gen 2 has the problem, Your Fenix 7. My mate with An Epic Gen 2 (Pro) doesn't have the issue, but anoten mate with a Venue has the issue on and off.

  • I've also sent a few videos of the reboot/resave process and the corresponding RAM dump from the watch.   Very. Very. Frustrating

...conspiracy theory: garmin wants us all to buy the latest version of the watch series to get our golf features back RoflThinking

  • I have the epic 2 pro and have the same issue. Seems like it’s everywhere. Been happening since the beginning of August for me with the shot maps not saving.

I think if the activity saves but not the golf scorecard you can usually get it back syncing with garmin express.

  • So I did all the updates through Garmin Express but issue not fixed. Played a round today. The watch (Epix Gen 2) did prompt me to save the round after logging my score on the 18th, but then immediately rebooted. Synced with my iPhone and the Golf “activity” did sync to Garmin Connect but not the Golf “ round”. On the watch I started a new round of gold but watch prompted me that there was another round in progress. Ended that round and saved it.  It did then synch the Golf “round” to Garmin connect, but alas… no shot map data. Very disappointing

  • Hallelujah!   Shots Maps have returned to my Fenix 7S with todays round of golf.  I did perform a 'reinstall maps" and a soft reboot prior to the round and a download of the course onto my phone Garmin Golf app.  The watch did not reboot after saving the round.  All worked as it had prior to the update to 23.18.  Fingers crossed that it lasts.

  • arghghgh...I feel your pain and I am really hoping my Fenix doesn't relapse.  I thinking I'll keep doing the reinstall/reboot step prior to each round of golf. I may also remove a course that was previously downloaded and redownload it [if that is possible] as my successful experience today was at a course I had never played nor downloaded.

  • Played over the weekend and downloaded a new course that I had not played. After the round, I saved the round, and my watch reset, which was the first time that had ever happened after saving a round. Nothing showed up, so after my watch reset, I knew I had to start a new round to trigger my last round so that I could end the match. The round uploaded, but no shot maps appeared in the Golf App. The following day I played 9 holes and after the round my watch did not restart and I did get shot maps. I am beginning to wonder if you play 18 holes, you will not get shot maps.

This is very frustrating, and I wonder if a good old-fashioned Reddit post could prompt one of the online line golf publications to run a story about how broken Epix gen 2 and older Fenix 7 models are. Maybe that would speed up the process of fixing our watches.

  • There’s a Reddit post already as that’s where I found to post on here! I’ve had a response from garmin which is a workaround but basically I can either record an activity and not have the shot maps or turn off activity tracking but have “potentially” shot maps! If I wanted shot data not using garmin I’d have got arcos or something…..I want both activity and golf stats not one or the other Rolling eyes

  • I have been following and responding to a similar thread on reddit...same frustrations there.

Also, the course I played and successfully got shotmaps was an 18-hole but it was a course I had never played before.  I play my home 18-hole course tomorrow so I'll see if I get shotmaps
