Correct, the Garmin Golf app offers scorecard features through the "Start New Round" option through the "At Course" tab...however, the app does not provide distance information if only the app is in use.
A Garmin Golf GPS device is required in order to get information during the round for distance, hole layout, hazard information, etc. The Approach Z30 when paired through the Garmin Golf app will result in the Garmin Golf app displaying the front, middle, and back distances to supplement the rangefinder since the Z30 does not have a GPS receiver built into the device. The Approach Z30 is currently the only device that results in distances displaying within the Garmin Golf app during the round.
