Pulse or other data field while golf

I have an S20 but I consider to buy an S70. The reason is that I want to see my pulse rate in a data field while using the golf app in the S70. How is this possible?

Can I show a data field in the golf application or can I simply toggle betwenn different watch faces?

  • The Golf activity application on the Approach S70 do not offer data fields like other activity types, as it is entirely oriented around golf features when using that specific activity type.

Pulse Ox can be enabled in the Sensors & Accessories menu on the Approach S70 to record Pulse Ox all day when the watch is able to get a measurement while you are sitting still enough.

Pulse Ox is designed to be measured while sitting completely still, and while in "All-Day" mode, will attempt to get a reading approximately every 5-15 minutes. Since the watch detects movement for steps, and shot detection...if more movement is detected the watch will record Pulse Ox less frequently throughout the day.

There are ways you can spot check Pulse Ox at any time during the day on the Approach S70 through the Pulse Ox widget glance on the S70...so during a round you can simply exit out to the watch face screen > Scroll down the Widget Glance list to the Pulse Ox section > Tap the glance > Then the watch will prompt the measurement for you where you can relax while remaining motionless for the device to get the reading at that moment > You can then return to the golf app to proceed with utilizing the golf features on the watch from there.

More information can be found on the Garmin Support articles linked below on this feature and how it works with our devices:

  • Thank you for the detailed response and for presenting this option.

However, starting another activity multiple times during a round of golf seems cumbersome to me. Does the S70 allow running another activity, like walking or running, in parallel with the golf app? Then I could just toggle between these activities.

  • You do not have to end the activity to perform a pulse ox check. All you have to do is tap the back button to display the watch face where the time is displayed > Then swipe up or down on the face to reveal the Widget Glance list to access the pulse ox widget to measure.

There is no way to start two activities at the same time on the watch and per my previous response, the Pulse Ox feature is designed to get the measurement while the user is sitting completely still...so starting another activity in conjunction with the round of golf would not be a solution for the information you are wanting to measure while golfing.
