I love my Fenix 7, so naturally I got the CT10 sensors for my clubs and have been using them with the app for a while. Unfortunately, the data that the app gives based on this shot data is only marginally useful, and often doesn't make sense. This has me considering switching to an arccos system, but I'd hate to have to wear an extra sensor in addition to my watch for the GPS data. Here's a list of things that could greatly improve the app user experience:
1) When I hit a shot near the edge of the green, the app often has a hard time differentiating whether the next shot is a putt or not, which is understandable. However when I go through the shot data after the round - there's no good way to change whether the shot was on the green or not. The "green" lie option is even greyed out if you try to change it. You can delete the extra swing that it registers next to the green, but then if you put 2 putts into the stats, it'll think you 2 putted from much closer to the hole than it should.
2) This would be an addition to the first point, but it would be nice if we could see where the app is logging putt locations. Ability to edit them would be useful incase the sensors misread (like any other shot on the course).
3) Strokes gained only shows the current average numbers. I would like to see strokes gained for each round, and the ability to plot trends for off the tee, putting, etc. over time so that I can actually see what is impacting my scores. The little boxes in the app that say "your putting is improving!" are useless! By how much? Is this just for the last round? Please give more information!
4) Strokes gained numbers are very suspect. First, the app reports that I have better strokes gained in every category than someone of my handicap. If this were the case, wouldn't my handicap be lower? Also, apparently I am gaining 0.05 strokes per hole putting compared to a tour pro, which I highly doubt.
5) There currently isn't a good way of reporting penalty strokes in the app. If I hit a shot 50 yards into a lake, and then drop, the app will record the distance for the first shot to be 50 yards too short, like I had just pitched it to the drop location. There should be a way to report a drop from a hazard after a shot so that the round can be mapped more accurately. This is kind of a minor gripe, because the app seems to ignore outliers for distance anyway.
6) Ranking "see where you rank among Garmin Golf users" doesn't work properly. Apparently I'm better than 97% of people off the tee, but only 28% in driving distance. If anything these numbers should be reversed, but we all know that distance and total driving are highly correlated, so to have that much disparity between the stats is obviously wrong.
