How does Garmin determine a golf shot is a "recovery"

Trying to make some sense and understanding of these performance statistics in Garmin Golf.

Does anyone have an idea what is a "recovery" or how Garmin calculates it?

Is it when a shot is taken from the rough to get back into the fairway? How does it know if/when it is a true recovery vs an terrible attempt at the green (therefore an approach shot)?

  • An issue with our Performance Stats section, is the origin of the information and what our engineers directly pulled the data from to give the values that you are reading. I am sending you a Private Message to gather your information related to Performance Stats enhancement.

Regarding your question, a recovery is as you noted. Going from off the fairway back to the fairway but without landing on the green. It is determined based on the location of that shot when you hit your next shot.
