Garmin Explore Missing things

When will the 3D map be implemented in Garmin Explorer? It has already been implemented in the Suunto app for a long time. It is also accessible in Osmand. The Garmin Explorer program is outdated in many ways:

  • it does not have switch between 3D map 2D map
  • you cannot rotate the map
  • searching for names of towns or places does not work correctly.
  • multi-colored route (eg: slopes in red).
  • Route calculation, if I give it the speed of travel to calculate the time.

When will these problems be fixed?

  • Well to be honest the things you mention are not problems but missing features (except for address search). If you have suggestions for new features or enhancements you can use this form to submit suggestions to Garmin: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/

That being said the Explore web (and app) could indeed benefit from some additional features that other similar platforms do well.

  • yep...

    - be able to see track lines on map page

    - work with fit files

    - be able to convert tracks and routes to courses

    - work with coursepoints/cuepoints (you name it) on courses, the ones that will show on UP Ahead.

    Dream on ... kkkkkk

There’s no official timeline from Garmin for adding 3D map functionality or the other enhancements you mentioned. Currently, Garmin Explorer remains a relatively basic mapping tool it doesn’t support switching between 2D and 3D views, map rotation, advanced place-name search, multi-colored route overlays, or dynamic route time calculations based on speed. While competing apps like Suunto’s software and OsmAnd have long offered these features, Garmin has not announced any plans or release dates to update Explorer in these areas.
