Route sync from XT2 -> Tread -> Explore produces straight lines

New to Garmin and just picked up an XT2.  When creating a route in the XT2 and syncing to iPhone Tread, the route is fine.  When it syncs to Explore, it produces straight lines.  I've attached images.  What am I doing wrong?  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

XT2 and Tread on iPhone are both good.

Explore on web (PC) produces only straight lines.

  • Just a guess....check the XT2 navigation settings and ensure 'turn-by-turn" is selected rather than "straight line".

  • Thanks for the reply Like2Hike.  On the XT2, there are 4 options: Faster, Shorter, Straight Line and Adventure.  In this example there are just two waypoints with "Shorter" selected.  I've tried it with both "Faster" and "Shorter" selected with the same result. The XT2 and Tread on the iPhone are correct.  It's only Explore Web on PC that is incorrect.

  • Interesting. From the User Manual:

    "

    Changing the Route Calculation Mode

    1. Select > Navigation > Calculation Mode.
    2. Select an option:
      • Select Turn-by-Turn to calculate routes on streets and trails.

      • Select Straight Line to calculate point-to-point routes (without roads)

A second guess....realize that the Explore website is old and has been upgraded somewhat over time, to allow users other than outdoor recreation folks to make use of it. The Explore app is much newer.

Download the app, if you haven't already, and try to import the file into the app. If it works as expected, synch the app to the website.

  • Is that from the XT2 manual?  All I see is Faster Time, Straight Line and Shorter Distance.  I've downloaded the Explorer app to my iPhone and it says it's incompatible with the XT2.  I guess I'll live with it.  I probably won't care about having routes created in the XT2 being available in Explore web.  Most of the time I will create the routes in Google Maps and export to the XT2.  That works fine.  It would just be nice to have everything play nice together.  Thanks for the help.

  • From the Garmin zumo XT2 manual....I'm assuming zumo XT2 and your reference to XT2 are the same. Perhaps, I'm wrong.

Garmin has been trying to get all their devices and ecosystems to play together, there have been some missteps.

    Best of luck!
