Downloading maps to Explore

I'm not sure if this is the way I want to go but I'm getting ready to do the Tahoe Rim Trail and searching out all of my tracking options. I'll be using the FarOut App for the most part but wondering if I am able to import FarOut maps into explore, (I've already paid for the Tahoe Rim Trail Map.)

I'm trying to get a good feel for what I really want to do, and also have a backup. I do have explore synced with my InReach Mini2.

I opened an explore, Garmin, map of the Rim Trail but I'm not seeing how to download it. And when I clicked away to an older map, I can't figure out how to get the Rim Trail map back up. Guess I'm in need of a good tutorial. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank You

  • I don't think you can import a Far Out map into Garmin.

I assume you are using the Explore app, and you saw the Rim Trail on that map. You can use the Search function on the app map page to find the trail.

The trail on the map is not downloadable. You can create a course, following the trail on the map, and then save the course. You can also go to a hiking community website (like AllTrails) and download a recorded version of the trail. After you download it to your phone or computer, you upload it into Explore.

  • Hello, you can import GPX files directly into the Explore app on your phone to be able to navigate the trails you are wanting to hike. Importing GPX Files in the Garmin Explore App
