InReach Tracking—Straight Lines in Explore

I have just done a day of green lanes using my InReach Mini 2.

When I looked at Explore on the inter webs I just see straight lines on the map as people have mentioned before.

On previous outings I have used Explore on my iPhone to see the tracking live as I am doing it and this caused the map to show the actual trail not just straight lines and dots.

Has anyone else had this happen?

  • The Explore app has "snap to fit" functionality, while the website does not.

  • So I have just used my InReach connected to my iPhone and connected to the Explore App while driving a short distance and when I open Explore on the web it shows the actual route, not lines and dots.

  • That's interesting. Probably because the app has "snap to fit", and that version is copied to the web.

If you select the Route planner on the web (the tacks above map) and simply click on some road and then click again somewhere else on the road, you should get a straight line, it won't truly follow the road.

If you do the same thing on the app map page...select the "+" and then, "create course". Tap on some road at two locations, you will see the app truly follows the road.

  • I think the next comment might get a bit confusing as it seems to indicate the creation of routes manually between the app and website. However, from what I am understanding of your posts its an activity and track you are creating by starting tracking. Is that correct?

When you create an activity it also needs to be synced to the explroe website as all data does. Syncing the inReach Mini 2 With the Garmin Explore Website and App
