Problem importing routes with Garmin Explore

If I am importing a gpx file with a route (created with Mapsource) either in the web app or the android app, not routing is used and the resulting path consists of straight lines connecting the way points. Using Garmin Connect on the other hand produces correct routing along roads.

Am I missing something or is this a bug?

I don't understand your question...a gpx file can be imported as a route or a track (not, "with a route") in the Explore website ("web app" doesn't make sense...there's the Explore website and the Explore app). You can also download a gpx within the Explore app, though I've never done that.

The Explore website Map page is not a snap-to map, but the Connect website is a snap-to map.

If you import a gpx file to the Explore website (and choose "import as route"), it should show the desired path of travel.

A gpx file can contain routes and tracks. I am referring to a gpx file containing a route. In my experience neither the explore web app nor the explore android app is able to autoroute and to produce a path along roads ("snap to roads"). For the meaning of "web app" please refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_application.

I was asking if someone has more success doing so, because it seems strange to me that Explore isn't able to autoroute. But reading other posts here we are all experiencing the same.

I don't have any experience with android app, but the Explore website is not able to autoroute. There are other third party mapping sites which do, and the Garmin Connect website has a Course map, The Course map does autoroute, but its default file type is a fit file. You can choose to download the file as a gpx.

"Web app" isn't a term I've seen used at all by Garmin, so it gets confusing when people go outside their lexicon. As if Garmin wasn't confusing enough!
