How to remove a collection only from the device?

When I remove a collection from 'Synced Collections' on https://explore.garmin.com/Devices it doesn't seem to remove it from my Garmin Instinct. If that is by design, is there a way to do this?

Garmin Instinct doesn't have a lot of storage space so I thought collections would help to allow switching easily between them and not just keep adding.

  • I started over and seems it's working now. I use this workflow to add a new track to a collection and I wonder if there's an easier way:

    1. Use connect.garmin.com to create a new track since explore.garmin.com doesn't snap to trails and mobile phone is too small screen.
    2. Send track to Garmin device (since seems no way to add or sync it to a collection from connect web site)
    3. Go to Explore mobile app to sync back from Garmin device (since web site doesn't seem to sync a new collection at all when adding/removing a collection)
    4. Go to Explore mobile app or web site to move the new track to correct collection and then sync
  • For your step 2, this is officially a way to do this on the Explore web site, you start Import Data and then select Courses - however it is currently broken, but it is supposed to be a connection to garmin connect so check back in the future. As an alternative way to get it into Explore, from Garmin Connect web, you could "download GPX" the course, then in Explore web import it into a Collection, then sync to Explore app and then to watch.

  • Yes I discovered on Explore site I can do 'Import Data / Import Courses' but I always get 'An error occurred.'.

Problem I thought with GPX files is that it may not contain all data from a course created by Garmin since it's not in a Garmin format (.FIT). But not sure.

I have sent you both PMs to confirm the email address on your Garmin account and I can add you to the ticket so you'll get notified when it's resolved.

  • Thank you:-). If the Explore web site would be able to create a track just like the mobile app, then that would be even better. Right now the Explore web site only makes straight lines between points (I guess it's a route?) and doesn't follow a path on the map.

Hi, I have the same problem with my Garmin Zumo XT,  When I remove a collection on explore.garmin.com dont´remove the collection from my device. why ?

  • I have the same problem with collections remaining on my Zumo XT even after i delete them on Explore. Any solution to this yet?

Also, it would be nice to be able choose which collections to sync to Zumo XT.

  • After you delete the Collections from explore.garmin.com, the Zumo XT needs to be synced so that the changes will be relayed to the unit. This article has steps to sync: Syncing, Adding, and Deleting Explore App Data on the zumo XT
