All imported tracks come with the same name...

I have imported a gpx file with several tracks and waypoints from an exported/saved BaseCamp LIST) but Explore shows all tracks with the same name (file's name=LIST name) ... Waypoints are ok.

Do I have to save only one track per file ( and name the file the same as the track? Tha would mean creating one "Basecamp LIST" per track? Come on Garmin!

I am having this same issue. I downloaded a GPX file that has multiple Tracks in it, but the Tracks are coming in with the name of the file, not the name defined in the GPX format. Any thoughts? Is the Syntax wrong? Below is a sample of the file:

IMO, this is a bug. OTOH, this is the way it has always worked. You can try opening a ticket with tech support. Maybe they can convince the developers that it's not the desired behavior.

I agree it is a bug! I tried calling tech support, they didn't seem to really care and directed me to the general suggestions webpage. While i entered the suggestion i have little hope it will actually reach development.

I did find a work around for the Garmin Overlander. I downloaded Garmin Basecamp and imported all the gpx files there (it processes the names and colors correctly). I then plug my Overlander in and transfer the tracks over to the memory card. Next i import the tracks to the explorer app installed on my Overlander device. My Overlander syncs with the explorer webpage and when the sync occurs the tracks are imported with the correct name. NOTE: the import from basecamp to overlander still does not properly process things like track coloring and waypoint icon selection. So after i import i still end up doing a lot of editing on the device itself.

This is an extremely inefficient workflow. In my opinion the explorer webpage has a ton of potential for managing and interacting with GPS data and then syncing that master data to different devices, but it has several features missing. To bad...so much potential...so poorly executed. To top it all off the customer service experience is absolutely horrible and leaves me feeling like i have no voice as a customer. Hopefully a better technology company will come along a disrupt this industry.

Looks like there is a way to do this, as I also found the developers of Explore Web are using the filename for the name of all the tracks, and not the name of the tracks themselves - very frustrating.

Here is what worked for me:

1. Export all the Tracks from BaseCamp as a single GPX File, should be called: "Selected Data from Ryan's Quad Trips.GPX" or similar.

2. Download and sign in to the Garmin Explore application

3.Get that file to your mobile device (I use Google Drive for this)4. Find the file on your device using the File Explorer.

5. Simply tap that file and it will open in Explore.

All the individual tracks with their individual names appear as tracks, and it will sync up to the web so you can also see them in there if you like.

This worked perfect for me, hope it also helps you.

I should note, I had hundreds of tracks, and some waypoints, and they are all now showing up perfectly.

just stumbled across your post after fighting this issue on my computer and not being able to get the track names to transfer correctly. Tried your method above and works like a champ. no computer needed! Thank you for posting this info. Appreciate the effort, saved me time trying to sort it out.

Ryan I know your post is 3 years old but any chance you remember what you meant by "find the file on your device using the File Explorer"? What is the File Explorer?
