adding course points to imported courses

When importing gpx from 3rd parties and converting to a course, they have only two course points, the starting point and the end point. When editing it, by adding a point, the endpoint disappears.

Importing from Strava is a little better. With a linked account to Connect, the courses appear in Explore. The Strava course points are imported and appear on the watch. However, when editing the course in Explore, the Strava course points disappear and only the explore course point remains.

Does someone knows a good solution how to import editable courses to Garmin Explore?

I think you can use Garmin Connect Web or Mobile to import and edit

Import your GPX into Garmin Connect (web or app)
Connect preserves course points better than Explore
Edit the course there
Sync to your device
Only then let Explore sync the course from your device

This keeps the cues on the device, even though Explore still won’t show/edit them correctly.

GPX file format doesn’t address course_points because the breadcrumb is a track or a route and not a course.

GPX format addresses only waypoints that are elements that don’t “belong” to a track or a route.

Some apps can convert a GPX file containing a track and nearby waypoints and convert it to a FIT or TCX file format.

FIT and TCX file format address course_points.
