Where did my Public Courses Go? [OM+]

Hello, I am writing to express my frustration over the new OM+ feature.  I have created courses on Garmin Connect by manually clicking and defining courses to navigate.  Now that OM+ is a product, those trails are "greyed out" in my Garmin Explore App.

I use the garmin explore app to look at trails which I have created in Garmin connect.  I can understand not providing trails from garmin trails to people without OM+ but it is very upsetting that my own trails (created by manually clicking points on the map) are withheld from me!  I have been a longtime garmin advocate and customer (edge 500, forerunner 955, in reach mini, and alpha 300i).

Please let people have full access to trails that they create in the Garmin Explore App!

  • The new Trails layer available for the Garmin Explore app should have had no effect on manually created courses. Where are you seeing the courses being greyed out? If you go to the Saved tab and select the Courses icon, are you no longer able to access your previously created courses?

  • Hi Chris,

I see the information "greyed out" four ways:

    1. The metadata near course title has a grey redaction box.
    2. No longer able to "navigate" or "customize" course.
    3. The Course points section has been removed (where you can see aid stations etc.)
    4. No longer able to open up the ellipsis submenu for 'view on map', 'edit', 'share as gpx', 'save a copy'... etc.

Below, I am attaching two screenshots.  The first is of a course I made which is private.  You can see it has full functionality in Garmin Explore.  The second course is one I made in garmin connect just a few minutes ago by clicking points on the map and adding course points.  I made this a public course.  You can see that when it comes into Garmin Explore, I am unable to access it in the same way I am able to access my private Course.

I don't mind having to make courses privately, but being able to share a link to a course (requires a public course) is so convenient when hiking with others.

  • I misread your original post and thought you were speaking about courses created in the Garmin Explore app rather than on Garmin Connect. I will reach out to you directly to gather additional information.
