Explorer app appears to forgot my login. How can that happen?

I have been using inReach Mini2 on a trail with Explorer app (iOS) for a while. Last week I was walking on a trail again. Suddenly the Explorer app has forgotten my login and asked me to login. I was on JMT so that there was not much Internet connection. Besides, isn't that the point of those Satellite Communicators? Obviously I could not login so that I could not use the Explorer app anymore. Does anyofne know how this can happen? Is there anyway to use the app without logging into Garmin web service?

Also, this is a bad design choice by Garmin product development. This is the device that assumes there is not cell / Internet connection. As a part of workflow, there is a login requirement. There should be a way to use the app with InReach device without logging into their Internet service. As far as I see, there is not. Sure inReach Mini 2 works without Explore app. Still it's pain to type anything on inReach Mini 2. Practically I can only type very short message.

Because of this design flaw, I am seriously considering to ditch this device and get something else.

  • Did you for example activate the ECG feature on a watch and switched your account to 2 factor authentication? This would every app require to login again after the change.

  • I was on a trail with no Internet access at all. It was working initially. Then, in another morning it suddenly requested to login.  I did not change any setting. I am not sure what triggered the loss. Only thing I can think of was a restart of iPhone.
