Using Garmin GPS 66sr to Survey

Hello…new to the Garmin Forum, so I don’t know if this is the correct place to ask these questions.

1. I have a Garmin 66sr that I would like to use to help me survey my property. I am preparing to build a house on my property and want to use the 66sr to help me determine where to place the house and determine the slope or contour lines on my property. Is there a tutorial somewhere that will help me do this?

2. Can I use the 66sr to record a series of pints that I can then later save to Excel and use in Google Earth to layout my house and other structures I am going to build on my property?

Thank you,

jim

  • Generally, GPS units are divided into types: consumer, professional, and military/govt. The 66sr is a consumer grade GPS meant for outdoor recreation and fitness.  I would think you would want a professional grade GPS for home surveying.
