No GPX or KML import in Explore App?

Maybe I'm missing it, but is there really no possibility to import GPX or KML files into the Explore app? Seems a bit ridiculous, given that one might want to upload tracks to their GPS or Instinct on the go. For me, that would be a regular use-case. And of course, other GPS apps such as Komoot, Maps.me, etc. have that functionality ...

You can use the Explore website to import GPX and KML. But I suppose if you need it on the go, it wont work out for you.

Correct. With an iPhone on the go this is not an option.

Can't believe that they never thought to add this crucial feature to the software?

I have found by adding old data to my Fenix5 from BaseCamp then syncing the Fenix5 with Explore I can get the data into Explore.

You can do it...sort of. For example, I can create a .gpx file on a compatible website using my iPhone and download it. It generally gets downloaded to the downloads folder in the files app. You can now click the downloaded file from the Safari "downloads Tab" or long press the .gpx file from the files app. You can then choose to open the file in Garmin Connect, where it will be imported as a course/ way point/ route and can be synced to the watch. On next opening Garmin Explore, this will be synchronised from the watch.

That is for Garmin Connect. This refers to Garmin Explore for IOS

Yeah.. it's a roundabout way but it works. you can "open in Garmin Connect(IOS)" for any GPX files you download. (somehow you can't also do "open in Garmin Explore(IOS)"

Now you can!! They finally added that feature. Works great.

I created a route in Guru maps on iOS and imported as a gpx file in Explore. You get both the waypoints and the track so you can use what fits your purpose best.

It's true -- With the release of Explore App version 2.9, it's now possible to import GPX files from the smartphone into the app. The following article from our Support Center has steps:
