In the absence of an iPad version of Garmin Connect Mobile, it would be nice if devices could be paired directly within Explore without having to pair with GCM first. Once I've paired devices I find that I can delete GCM anyway.
I've installed the iPhone version of GCM on my iPad (when you're in the App Store on the iPad and search for Garmin Connect, you select iPhone apps rather than iPad apps from the Filters in the top left of the iPad screen).
Garmin is working on this puzzle! We agree that the piggyback Bluetooth connection across two apps isn't ideal.
We have new technology when rolled out across enough systems will allow us to decouple the apps. All of the devices currently supported by the Explore app have chips that will allow them to use this technology. : )
