I also saw it today. Indeed interesting! I am curious what they will change. I hope they will finally update their osm source map and not again use the one from 2019 for their new map. I am trying to keep my expectations low though. Not a lot of good Software came from Garmin in the recent past, especially not related to apps.
I contacted Garmin support in February about the incredibly outdated maps in explore. They just sent an email that this is fixed in version 4.0. Sounds promising!
New version is out! (At least on Android). Looks good so far. Updated TopoActive maps (much better than before), different routing options map layers (shading, contours). First impression is very good.
