I do not have that device. I have a Etrex SE.

The explore software on Android is not showing displaying speed in the explore software when connected to the extrex se

It's the same app, so chances are good that the solution mentioned in the linked thread works for you as well.

No. What you have sent indicates, a solution is to go to a + button. The app + button for an Extrx SE does not have this function.

No, not the + button. The map settings button, the one ABOVE the + button.

there is a setting "Prefer Device Location". Does changing this setting change the behaviour?

No still will not show the speed. So it appears this software has a bug when connected to an Etrex SE unit
