How to use GPX from Google Maps Android app

I clearly can understand that Garmin has no bigger interest to integrate main mapping competitors.

As an Android user I would love to be able to send a Google Maps location to the Garmin Explorer app.
But when I share the Google Maps location via the Android to Garmin Express, I get the error message that the GPX file could not be imported.

Is there a workaround?

  • To use GPX data from the Google Maps Android app, you can follow these steps:

-Open the Google Maps app on your Android device.

-Search for the location you want to save as a GPX file.

-Long-press on the map at the location you want to save. A red pin will appear.

-Tap on the red pin to bring up the location details.

-Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap on the "Share" button.

-Choose the "Export to .GPX" option from the sharing options.

-Save the GPX file to your device.

You can then use this GPX file with GPS navigation systems or fitness tracking apps.
