Odd syncing issue

(Using an Instinct 2 Solar and Connect and Explore on a Samsung Galaxy S22+. All software and firmware updated.)

Garmin Connect seems to work fine. I'm connected reliably and have no issues with syncing there. But about 20% of the time I go into Explore, I have a connectivity issue.

For example, I just verified that Connect is still okay, then I went into Explore and when I choose Devices, I see my watch and there is a green dot next to it (which I assume means it has at least acknowledged seeing it). But when I then select my watch and click on the Sync icon, absolutely nothing happens. No swirling of the arrows, no error messages, nothing at all. The ONLY way I can seem to fix this is the remove the device, then simply tell it to connect again. At this point, sync takes place immediately.

Any suggestions? This is just silly.

Thanks in advance.

  • Are you on the latest version of explore? I used to have issues with syncing, but version 3.2 seemed to have fixed them. Latest version is 3.3. Back when I had the problems, deleting the app cache in android settings seemed to help, maybe try this as well.

  • Thanks. But like I said at the outset, all of my software and hardware is current. 3.3 is what I've been running.

The bottom line is that Garmin software just appears buggy. I couldn't delete some courses from my watch unless I used File Explorer in Windows to remove them. That's not right.

100% agree on that. Every piece of Garmin Software that I came across so far suffers from a bad user interface and /or devastating bugs.

  • same here, connect works fine but explore is really bad, both the website and the android app.
It doesn't connect / sync to the watch
It doesn't import GPX files that are just a couple of kb of size
It shows waypoints in the wrong collection
    etc.

Is there any other way to transfer waypoints to the Instict 2 watch?
