garmin app for tracking route on my phone

On occasion my garmin watch has died pre or mid trip. Is there a backup app. I can use on my Samsung phone to track a route and then upload to Garmin Connect / Strava if the watch is down?

Yes that's what I do now too. There is no Garmin app for this afaik. There are a lot of apps out there that will record and export a GPX file that don't require an account though, such as MyTrails. But strava is handy because from a computer you can export the GPX/TCX and then import into Garmin Connect web.
