Question for garmin mk3i (iPhone) users

Hey folks,

I currently run an AWU2 and love it, I’ve run AW’s daily since year dot and I find it perfect for my recreational diving so far.

I am however torn and have been toying with the idea of AI so looking at the mk3i (51mm) and happy with all the activity features etc. the battery life is also a big draw.

But trawling through all the reviews and videos it’s hard to see how it performs as an actual smart watch…

So existing users, how are the notifications? Can you interact with them, read and reply to texts, iMessages and WhatsApp etc?

Any other thoughts on the mk3i v the AWU2 that aren’t dive related?

Thanks all.

You can read messages but cannot reply, it is Apple iOS limitation.

Battery: my MK3i works at least 10 - 11 days on one charge with every day, one hour workout with GPS and music played from the watch. In pure smartwatch mode it would work up to 20 days.

Regarding AI, could you say what do you understand under this term, in MK3i it means air integration  not artificial intelligence.

    Regards.

  • Im using Fenix Watches since the Fenix 1.
I always eyed on the Apple Watch because of the beautiful displays. Since Epix Gen 2 days, that is gone.
To be honest, i did install the WhatsApp App on my Fenix 8 just to uninstall it a few hours later, i dont use it. Me for myself dont miss any smart functions on the watch. I can read notifications, check the calender and decide if its worth to get the phone out.
My home automation is done via Home Assistant wich i can control with an ConnectIQ App. Music from Spotify is working fine. For Garmin pay i use VIMpay.

I enjoy all the data the watch is tracking. I dont use Apple Health but Garmin Connect to store all health related data (Watch day 2 day data, Index S2 scale, Index BPM).

If you rely on a lot off different apps wich you want to use with the watch, you wont get lucky with a Garmin and iOS. Apple is crippling the functionallity as far as EU fines let them do it.

I would miss the Battery life time and the round display more than the Apple Watch has to offer me.
