Help with straight line added to track on Garmin 62stc

I hope I'm posting this in the right area, but yesterday I went for an 11 mile hike and turned off the GPS afterwards when I got to my car. Then when I turned it back on when I got home to look at the track, a straight blue line from my house to the track had been added. :mad:

Is there a way to prevent this from happening? This has happened many times before and it's annoying to say the least. It seems there should be a 'Stop Navigating' button or something. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
