Calendar - how to plan ? Fitness tracking apps suggestion needed as well.

Hello everyone ,
i just got myself a vivoactive and i am trying to figure myself out in the Garmin Connect world :)

My main activities are swimming and fitness( weights and indoor cardio training)

My first question is - how do i get such a pretty calendar view , like the one on the ad


|It says Upcomming , so i assume that all those items are in the future. This is great but i can not manage to create event/workout with a swimming icon on it in the future, actually i can not create any manual activity in the future due to -"Your "Start" value is not within permissible limits." The fixed workouts i am able to create in the future but there is not swimming there , just a few segments of time/distance. I assume there is something quite simple that i am missing here. As a simple summary of the question - how can i create a nice item on the calendar with a swimming icon on it for tomorrow.

As i quite happily realized , most of the world and the internet considers fitness the following - running/riding a bike/rarely swimming. weight lifting is kind of an afterthought. Can you suggest an online/mobile app that can sync with Garmin connect where i can track gym exercises - like sets/ weights/res and so on . I am trying out myfitnesstracker but it feels really basic and clunky( like i cant add variable weights per set and so on ). Any other applications that i can use to get all my sport info together, that you can suggest will be appreciated. I mean its something that a basic excel sheet does amazingly well, i assume someone/somewhere has made it well enough with progress bars/records and nice graphics.

Ill probably try with the second question in the fitness subforum as well .
