Automatic detection of activity type

I have a Garmin 610 that syncs to Garmin Connect with Garmin Express. Is there a way for either my Garmin 610 device, or Garmin Connect to automatically detect my activity type? I only use my device for running and cycling, and it is pretty obvious which I'm doing based on speeds etc. (although I can believe for users with more esoteric activity types it might be harder, e.g. how would it distinguish between "yoga" and "wandering round the shops"?). Currently it assumes everything is running. This has recently started causing more problems since I enabled automatic syncing with Strava. So now Garmin Connect pushes my activities to Strava, with an explicitly indication suggesting they are running. Strava is at least clever enough to spot that I probably can't run a sub 2 hour marathon, and flags likely incorrect activity types. But it would be nicer if something on the Garmin side could do some automatic detection in the first place to save me having to fix it up each time I go cycling.

Let me know if I've missed some existing function for this? Or if it is what it is today, any prospect of it coming as a feature request?
