4 million steps?

So Garmin Connect thinks I did over 4 million steps today. My vivosmart and says only 11,000.Don't know what happened but i cant find any way to delete today's misinformation, which kind of skews my averages a bit. Any way to correct this? This on the mobile app as well, so it's obviously a server side error.

Here's an image of my steps in Garmin Connect. The 26 miles is from a bike ride today.
  • Kattyson,

That is a different problem entirely unless you took you speed sensor to bed with you. Your band must be defective if it did that.

Has anyone resolved this problem in any way? Has anyone replaced a device with this issue? Garmin support asked me to send my vivosmart in for replacement, but I find it hard to believe that this is hardware related.

This is nothing to do with the device, its a software issue. Think about it, ALL of us having Bike sensor and VivoSmart all of a sudden breaks ? I am starting to give up, no one at Garmin cares and as i said what bothers me is, this issue effects those who have purchased the Garmin Eco System ... Sad ... At least give us the ability to manually change the step count ...
  • It looks to me like changes were made to Connect yesterday which may or may not have addressed this issue.

However, it appears to me like those changes may have created other issues. Yesterday, my step widget showed 0 steps for about an hour or so although drilling down showed the same steps as my vivosmart. This was fixed later in the day but this morning, my stats from sleep detection are totally off-the-wall.

The status page shows everything Green but there is a disclaimer at the top of the page indicating Connect is experiencing issues.

I don't need to think about it as that was the same obvious conclusion that I had already come to as soon as the issue appeared, but since Garmin themselves recommended a hardware replacement it'd be nice to be able to say "Look. This guy did replace the device and it didn't fix the problem - as expected" instead of just "I don't think it's a hardware issue", since Garmin's support staff assumes that I'm an idiot.

Also 4 million steps for me

Garmin, there is an issue customers are clearly facing here. I also had the same bug and it appears no one has addressed this from the company as yet.

In one respect the 4 million steps are being reported in Garmin Connect and being seen by connections as 4 million steps. However, the auto-goal feature is seeing the correct step count from the vivosmart itself even after a sync.

So there is a disconnect here somewhere.

I would also like to add that since the addition of my Bike Sensor (010-12103-00), my activity no longer keeps a steady stream of information from my heart rate sensor. It cuts out frequently.

So is it the bike sensor itself? Causing issues with ANT+ connectivity and also feeding incorrect data to the Garmin Connect system?

Would appreciate a fix when possible.

    Cheers

My vivosmart auto-updated to FW 3.60 last weekend and the release notes say: "Improve syncing from device to Garmin Connect Mobile", so maybe the issue has been addressed. I'm taking the bike to work this week to see whether the problem is still present. They could have saved a lot of support time by just stating that it was a known issue that was being worked on instead of asking people to send their devices in and whatnot (if the issue indeed is fixed).

    no such luck

I'm sad to report that FW3.60 doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. The steps synched fine yesterday even though I logged my bike commute, but this evening over 50,000 steps appeared in Garmin Connect instead of about 5,000. The sleep hours are also synched incorrectly with this firmware, it seems :(

    Confirmed

I finally got a confirmation that this is a known issue. I got it via Garmin's Facebook page (customer support still stubbornly insists that I send the device in and refuse to confirm anything).

We're sorry for the trouble. We are aware of this, and it appears to only be occurring when using a vívosmart with a cadence sensor. Engineering is working on a fix as soon as possible. We expect an update to be released very soon.

    Finally!

Cool! Now if they can go back and fix our daily totals for us I'll be a happy camper.

    Issues with Step/HR/Speed Sensor

Are people getting issues with constantly disconnecting heart rate readings whilst the speed sensor is engaged. My two issues are:
    - Heart rate readings constantly going to zero then back (and yes, I replaced battery and tightened the belt - worked fine when speed sensor was not in the picture)
    - and of course step counts been thrown off

Would appreciate if Garmin will help correct the millions of incorrect steps that were added to our records.
