4 million steps?

So Garmin Connect thinks I did over 4 million steps today. My vivosmart and says only 11,000.Don't know what happened but i cant find any way to delete today's misinformation, which kind of skews my averages a bit. Any way to correct this? This on the mobile app as well, so it's obviously a server side error.

Here's an image of my steps in Garmin Connect. The 26 miles is from a bike ride today.

Sooo, its done it again this Sunday only added 480,000+ steps to my days total - once again I had done a 30 mile ride, I use the Vivosmart to record from Garmin heartbeat monitor and Garmin speed sensor on bike (around front wheel hub).

Its nothing to do with cache as it shows the same on several devices, last week the Synch was from my Vivosmart via my ageing HTC Sensation, this week it was via my new HTC-One M8 - both times I have been running the 3.50 software version on my Vivosmart.

Other people on my weekly challenges must be seriously pissed !!!!!

It does seem like it's the Garmin wireless sensor paired with the Vivosmart. The day this happened to me I purposely paired my HRM(non Garmin) and speed senor (Garmin magnetless) with the Vivosmart and the Edge810. I've been on 2 bike rides since, without pairing up the speed senosor with the Vivosmart, and no problems.

The odd thing is, I could easily see how the Vivosmart might actually be effected by the sensor. But nowhere on the Vivosmart does it show any abnormalities. Only on Garmin Connect. Even then it's just effecting the total step count and daily average. Not distance, calories counted or step goals.

I've got a support ticket opened on this, I'll pass along this info to the them.

My experience matches the above. I have the wireless speed sensor around my front wheel, and the only thing that shows the problem is the Connect software. My Vivosmart still has the correct step count, calorie calculations, and new goal. Connect thinks I'm a pedestrian marvel and probably wonders why I bother with the bike at all.

I have another ride planned for tonight, so I'll try connecting again and see what it says when I'm done, as much as I hate to throw more errant data into the system when it seems like it may not be possible to remove it.

I emailed Garmin support this is their reply

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

I’d be happy to assist you. Sorry you are step counts are wrong when using a speed and cadence sensor. If the vivosmart is working fine when you are not using the sensor than it may be the sensor. I recommend going on a bike ride without using the sensor to narrow down if it is the sensor or the vivosmart adding extra steps from the ride.

Please let us know your findings and if you need any further assistance.

I did another ride yesterday, i have over a MILLION steps, I had my speed and cadence sensor for over 3 months, this is a new problem introduced.

Vivosmart did just have a firmware update about a week ago to ver. 3.50, It's probably not a coincidence, that this is when this started.

Yep. I had a bunch of rides with no problems, but after that firmware update all this started.

I did another ride last night and 3.6 million steps magically appeared. No calories or anything, just the steps. My Vivosmart still said 7700 steps or so. I can't see where this is anything other than the Connect software puling some bad data from somewhere. I can't figure out how it gets 3.6 million anything from a 20 mile ride. Hopefully Garmin will figure this one out soon.

I suggest you email support, they started a case for me, the said the more people send their data the better they can figure it out.

I did, and they emailed me back that the issue had been addressed.

I did a bike ride that evening and the issue did not recur, so I figured they made some change at the Connect end of things that fixed it.

Unfortunately, after last night's ride I found I'd again be credited with 3.8 million steps, so it seems the issue is not as fixed as they say. Is anybody else still having this problem?

I'm in the same boat, Firmware 3.5, did a 30 minute ride to the office paired with my vivosmart and 30 minutes back and I'm at nearly 3 million steps. Email off to support.

Me exactly the same issue! As of Vivosmart Firmware 3.50, every time I record an activity with the Bike Speed sensor, the total steps in Garmin Connect bumps up to millions of steps. On the Vivosmart itself, the total steps are correct and also when you sum up the hourly steps in the statistic graph in GC.
So this is new with v3.50 - Garmin, pls fix this bug asap!
