What happens when trying to sync an activity recorded on 2 devices?

I recently bought a Vivoactive. Today I went for a ride which I recorded with both the Vivoactive and my Edge 810. I don't plan on regularly using the Vivoactive to record my rides, I was just curious how its GPS data would compare to the Edge. Anyway, when I got home, the Vivoactive synced to Garmin Connect on my iPhone, and then my Edge started to sync but then failed. Is the Edge detecting that a duplicate activity has already been synced and then stopping the sync? If I delete the activity on GC from my Vivoactive, will the Edge then sync? Ultimately I want the activity from my Edge as it contains HR and power data that the Vivoactive data does not.

Thanks

Jason
  • recording activities on two devices at the same time often just gives you double data (cal burns, etc). The failure to sync the 2nd device could just mean something funky happened with that device.

Did you have the HRM also configured on your va?

No, HRM and power meter were only paired with the Edge.
