Step count from runs also counted as walking

Hi there,
I noticed that my step counts from my runs are also counted as walking and go toward my burned calories.
This is inaccurate. Step counts from runs should not count separately and calories burned from runs should be counted only.
Can this be fixed?
Thank you
Andras

It's working properly. The "step" calories and "run" calories are used together and accounted for correctly. Are you not accounting for your BMR cals that are also included?

    Jim,
    How could it be correct?
My step count from walking is from about 600 steps.
I ran 18k so I got way above 10000 steps from that run.
My calory count on the other shows a lot of calories from running and a lot from walking.
All steps with current Garmin setup are accounted as walking and added on top of the running calories.
    This is not accurate.

You took steps while running - your step count is your 24x7 step count, and includes steps while in something like a running activity. If before the run you had 1000 steps, after the run you'll have 1000+ the number of steps you took while running.

Your total cals (again, 24x7) are adjusted to include extra cals from running, as is your 24x7 distance. Your 24x7 cals also include the carories your body burns by just "being alive) based on your BMR. So, if your 24x7 cals are 500 before the run, after the run, it will be 500+cals from the run+"BMR" cals you burned for the time of your run. If you look at the activity for the run, you'll see the cals based on that run, without the BMR cals.

What you're seeing is normal, as is the way it works with anything with activity and 24/7 step tracking combined.

At the end of the day, your steps for the day will be the total steps, including activities, and your cals for the day will be "normal walking" cals+ activity cals,+BMR cals.

    Jim,
You may not understand what I am referring to.
    Please, see atteched picture.
The calories from walking for today you be as much as yesterday, but Garmin increases it, because my step count is higher due to running.
    This is not accurate.
    Thanks

  • I understand.. It's just like I explained. Maybe not what you expect to see, but it makes sense to me.
