Garmin BaseCamp to Garmin Connect

Hi there. I wonder if you can help. I have done a quick search online but not come up with anything useful, so I thought best ask the experts.

I have mapped a whole 3week tour through France using Garmin Basecamp. I have exported each days ride as GPX and they open perfectly in Google Earth amazing. I thought I would try and upload them in to Garmin Connect this evening, but it keeps giving me an error. I even tired exporting them from Basecamp as TCX in case that helped, but no joy. I have not tried putting them on to my Garmin Edge800 yet, I am worried now incase I have wasted months and months of routing for nothing. Can anyone help or give some advice?

One more question, apart from Google Earth, is there another application I can upload my maps in to so I can clearly see the elevation on the hills and mountains. (I see on google earth I can change the settings to make hills bigger, but just wondered if anyone has used anything better, a bit like when they show the graphics for the stages of Le Tour de France.) Thanks very much in advance.
  • Garmin Connect only accepts files that contain an actual "activity". Also known as "log" files or "history" files.

They don't let you import "courses" or any other type data.

MapMyRide.com and I think RideWithGPS.com show you the elevation profile of the routes you create on them. And they can be exported to your device if desired.
  • Morning, thanks for the response. I didn't know that. I hope I can still upload it to my garmin itself.

On basecamp one can see the "graph" which shows elevation, I was just hoping for something a bit more fancy. MapMyRide gives some nice info. Thanks again for your help
