Weather Widget always waiting for data - please fix

All other widgets update but not the Weather widget - it's apparently broken. I'm using a third party weather widget for now.

Fenix 3 firmware v 4.0

    Same issue

    Same issue

    F3
    4.4
    latest GC on phone

Since the update, all my watch says is 'waiting for data.' I actually think this started after I did the update on my phone.

    RE Weather App

    Hey all,

I've just found a fix on another thread. If you start an app eg run/bike let it find GPS you will then find that the weather app comes back. It seems the the GPS on the watch is required for location, not the GPS/Location services on phone.

It seems crazy that you would have to do this all the time to update the weather app.

Let me know if anyone finds a better way to make this app work.
  • Same problem on a Epix.
Never works with the new update.
  • !00% spot on, its the VA's GPS that needs to determine where you are and then match that to the location on your mobile device to get the weather.

Yep, take the VA's running app or VA's GPS data app. After finding satellites, the weather app works for a couple of hours.
Seems to me that Garmin has to fix this bug.

The widget should have the ability to fire up a "one shot" GPS to get a location. I've done it in other widgets, so I know it can be done. The error message in the widget should also be something like "waiting for GPS" and not "waiting for data".

Has anyone reported the problem and what has to happen to get around it? garmin support doesn't normally monitor these forums.
