Confusing modern version

Former Member
Former Member
Simple question and thus demanding a simple answer:
The “modern” version of Garmin connect is completely user-unfriendly.
I used to see a list of activities by date. I could click on one and it gives you all the info for that one activity. Now only the very latest activity displays – and it only gets a small portion on the left top on the page. The rest is rubbish rubbish rubbish - THAT I DO NOT NEED!!!!!:mad::mad:
Please give me only what I need: THE DETAILS OF AN ACTIVITY THAT I CAN PICK BY DATE

I like your thinking Don - this might just work.
Background: I obtained my first 910XT about 4 or 5 years ago - probably the first one in South Africa at the time! get connected and uploading to Connect was easy. last upload was 31 May 2015 - all in metric. then I bought a new one since the old one gave me all kinds of problems. And that was when the pc problems started! I made Internet Explorer my default browser and downloaded Garmin Express, which is what I click on to get connected, since it is on my desk top. Finding Classic or Modern? you have specific links for those? once on the Express site there are no options as such and Googling does not get me anywhere
Please expand on you above theory, bearing in mind that my pc is now confused between device 1 and device 2 and Garmin Connect old and new and express ....
    starting from scratch - how?
    thank you for keep trying

    Hello Lochi,

    Switching to Classic.

Open Garmin Modern. It should open to the home page with 8 boxes (and more if you scroll down).

On the upper left side there are 4 icons, click the bottom one (head & shoulders) then click "Switch to Classic Temporarily" then follow my instructions in my previous post.

Thanks Don. We are almost there, but not quite. Bear with me now please

When I open Garmin Express from my desktop shortcut, The URL is https//connect.garmin.com/modern this tells me that Express and Modern is the same thing!

Then when I click on the head and shoulders icon on the left, it gives me the following options: view profile, settings, help, take a tour, sign out. When I select Settings, I get the following options: connect profile, personal information, display preferences (where I already unsuccessfully selected metric), training zones, privacy, notifications, account information.

I also tried the other options too (besides settings) under the head and shoulders icon. the only one that tells me something relevant, is take a tour that says: You are one of the very first to experience the new Modern Garmin Connect! To view the original Classic interface, simply go to the Settings menu and select “Switch to Classic Temporarily”

Just like you advised! but this opportunity I am still denied, because that option is not displayed.

what else can I try to switch to classic?

    Hello Don,
I did more or less as per your advice, and managed to get the switch to Classic done – thanks! However, in Classic it was also already set in Metric. I nevertheless changed it away and back to Metric – no success.

How about this Don: we start on a blank page. I un-install all Garmin programs and re-download them with new username and password – just like I bought a new pc and new Garmin device. I have already “parked” my old 910XT in Connect as retired but should ideally have cancelled/deleted it. (Just can’t get back to it now to do that) . shall we try this route?

    That is very strange indeed.

Just guessing here....use Internet Explorer....Type in garmin connect login.

    Select....Garmin Connect: Sign In

Use the same info that you use to sign in to Modern and hopefully Classic will be what opens.

If so then follow my previous instructions to change the Measurement Units, then go up top next to your login name and click Switch to Modern.
