Garmin Connect says my browser is out of date. It's not.

Garmin Connect says my browser is out of date.

"Time to update. We will soon be phasing out support for your browser. For the best viewing experience please consider updating to one of the more modern browsers listed."

My IE is at version 11 on a windows 7 x64 box. I'm an IT professional so I know the importance of keeping my home system thoroughly patched and updated.

This message from the Garmin Connect system would be laughable were it not so annoying.

I realize I could use Firefox, or Chrome, or even Opera - none of which receive the noted "warning". That, however, is not a solution.

Garmin, fix the issue on YOUR webserver!

I have the same setup but aren't getting that message. Maybe you have an issue with your system somewhere?

I just tested this on 3 different computers with Windows 7 x64 and IE 11, all 3 are up to date, and do not have this problem.

I don't use IE but out of curiosity I tried it. It does give the message if I go to the site and I am not logged in. Or when I sign out, I also get the message.

If I use the "remember me" to get logged in automatically, then I do not see the message.

Microsoft's site say my IE is up-to-date.

But as this is mainly a user to user help forum, as are most I'm familiar with, the OP's rant is only that, a rant. Someone that cares about IE should contact Garmin Support.

Good point. Instead of ranting about it, I've submitted an email support request.

BTW voiceresponse, the behavior on my system matches yours: only at logon page or after signout is it displayed. Once I'm in, no annoying notice.

You can all go back to sleep now.

An outdated Adobe flash will result in that message.
That would be something to check.

That may be the case with adobe flash being out of date. I'll have to try that. However Adobe Flash is not a browser. So if that's the case, the web developers need to get their act together and provide the correct message. To me is still an example that IT developers/programmers and their quality assurance people are slacking. However Garmin's IT and QA are not the only ones guilty of this.

Sort of like when my mother-in-law sent me to the store to get some bread. I came back with a loaf of bread. But what she really wanted were dinner rolls. <grin>

It also annoying that flash... a security issue ever since they started adding "features" to it, is used so prominently by websites just to put a nifty logo on the screen. Some in the actual login box.

I have the same problem on my two machines running Win 8 64 bit with IE11.
After logging in, the message disappears, but when I click 'help', it takes me to the support site, still logged in, and the message reappears.

I registered an error report with Garmin, will wait and see what they do. It doesn't really affect the functionality, but it is nevertheless irritating.
