Is there a way to import hiking data from an etrex into garmin connect?
  • Yes, see here http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/help/how-to/ where it discusses manually importing activities but note the requirement for time information.

You would however be better using Basecamp in my opinion.

Works well. In the Modern view, from Upload and Sync Activities, select Manual Upload. Select the desired file from the Garmin/GPX folder on your Etrex, You can select multiple files in one session if you select and upload them one at a time. Goes pretty fast.

Remember to Save you activity in Track Mnager before you shut down your Etrex. Also reset the Trip Computer at the beginning of your hike. To keep it simple I just accept the default name (date and time) when saving.

In your opinion, which functions in Base Camp would you use to track hiking history?
