Bluetooth Issues with Forerunner 225 & Garmin Connect

Anyone else having major frustrations with the new Garmin 225 & Bluetooth Sync?

I can't seem to get any help from any Garmin contact us links on this.

• I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. It finds multiple other Bluetooth devices with ease but it takes me multiple turn-on, turn-off attempts on both devices to find the Forerunner 225.
• If I can get past the first issue above and the phone says it’s connected and the watch say “Status = Connected”, the Garmin Connect App still struggles to connect to the device “Device not found”
• Sometimes the device name on my Phones Bluetooth menu changes from “Forerunner 225” to “nRF51822” which might explain the problem
• Then even if I can eventually get the device recognised on my Garmin Connect app, the sync seems similarly impossible to get going. Not matter what I push it doesn’t seem to force the sync. The only way I’ve managed to get it working at all is to wear the watch to sleep and then sync via the sleep mode activity area.

Obviously a very frustrating experience
  • Come on, Garmin, it's just Bluetooth...

also have a fenix2, bt pairing done in sec!

why fr225's bt function performance so poor...
  • Repaired !

Bluetooth problem repaired with the last update 2.50 made tonight.

Ive downloaded the latest version of connect on 2 devices and it wont pair with either of them,
I'm about to throw it into the sea
  • Same problem with the bluetooth

    I have the same problem.
Has anyone from Garmin responded to this thread? Is this being escalated and is someone working on a solution?

I had the same problem and just noticed something odd...

A few days ago I disabled the movement alarm and that's when the trouble started. I just turned it back on and re-paird my phone (samsung note 3) with fr225 and everything seems happy.
I'll test this out by disabling the move alarm again. my fr225 firmware version is still 2.40.

    ** Update **

Synced once, then back to square one.... :-(
  • How to hard resert the 225?

I have a 225 for one week now and bluetooth just worked once for me. I'll try to reset the watch as many said that worked the issue but i don't now how to do it! Any one can teach me? thanks in advance
  • Seems these Garmin 225 are not fit for purpose. What is Garmin doing about it?
  • Work around what seems to be ok in my case.

Just got one of these the other day. It paired up ok for a day like everyone else then it just didn't sync anymore.

    I'm on 2.4 firmware

What I have found to work is switch of your Bluetooth under the settings, then reboot the watch and turn Bluetooth back on. When I've done this its synced every time I went into Garmin connect.

In a nut shell 1) Turn of Bluetooth on the watch.
    2) Reboot phone pressing top left button.
    3) Turn back on again

Load Garmin connect on your device... you should see it connect under Garmin devices if not do a refresh.

Mine is on Andriod with Moto 4G if anyone needs to know.

Hope it helps until it fixed for real.
  • Nothing Worked

For the past three months my 225 connected to my phone automatically. Today...bluetooth stopped working. The bluetooth symbol didn't flash and my phone couldn't 'see' the watch in the bluetooth menu.

I performed a watch reset. Bluetooth still failed.
I reset my phone. Bluetooth still not found.
I updated the watch software to 2.6. Bluetooth still failed.
I reset my phone again. Bluetooth still not found.
I performed additional watch resets. Bluetooth still failed.

Now the bluetooth symbol doesn't even show up on the watch when I unlock it, which to be fair is somewhat of an advancement since it wasn't working anyway.

How frustrating. This is my first Garmin watch and I was about to recommend it to many of my running partners...but it looks like I'm the one with the dud.
  • Hereafter the post that I placed in FR225 section. Sorry for the cross post, I hope to find some advise here.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,

I am facing off with the pairing problem. Since few days I am not able to sync the FR225 with my Android Phone. The problems appears using the 2.40 release but the update at the 2.60 not solved the issue.

If I try to pair the devices the Garmin Connect App recognise the number for pairing but then there is only a timeout problem.

So, it seems that bluetooth communication works (otherwise the number for pairing will be not transmitted from the FR225 to the phone).
I try with different phones (Samsung 6, Iphone 5, Motorola) but the result is the same. The bluetooth interface is "hard"...

    Any suggestion?

It is my firs experience with Garmin devices, not a good experience untill now..

Hope to have some help, regards.

    Nicola
