I want my Garmin Vivosmart and myfitnesspal to be as accurate as possible and so I have the "calorie adjustment" based on activity feature turned on.
However, this seems to result in Garmin sending over a large negative calorie adjustment. For example, today it is only 12 pm (noon) and Garmin is already telling myfitnesspal to subtract -450 calories from my daily calorie allowance.
Also (fully disclosure).... for exercise like a body pump class or yoga, I add the activity via myfitnesspal (since Vivosmart is only interested in steps, walking, running).
BEFORE I took a sculpting class today at 9 AM, Garmin negative calorie adjustment was already -150. I estimated that I burned 300 calories in the class; when I added it, Garmin's negative adjustment changed to -450.
Would this be more accurate if I turned off the calorie adjustment feature? Note: I am NOT looking for weight loss (maintenance) and I have myfitnesspal set to allow me to eat 1700 calories per day. Garmin keeps adjusting me down to 1100-1200 which results in weight loss with my level of activity.
The ONLY time Garmin sends a positive adjustment is if I RUN 3+ miles or take a Hip Hop class (not even a Boot Camp will give me "extra" calories).
ALSO, I almost ALWAYS hit the step goal Garmin sets for me. It seems like I should be breaking even from a Garmin perspective, not having these negative adjustments....
Thoughts? Help? (Tried to provide as much detail as possible to get an accurate answer).
