Garmin 810 not syncing for updates

Hi, i am trying to update my Garmin 810 for the latest software version and to sync new courses. Garmin express opens, the update starts then half way an error comes up saying "there was an error syncing with garmin express". Please help, what am I doing wrong? I really need to import a course for this weekend
