All activities deleted on Garmin Forerunner 220 after connecting to USB

Hello,

After every run, I connect my Forerunner 220 to my laptop to have it sync to Garmin Connect and to save each .FIT file to my computer. However, on this particular day, I connected to the laptop, had my run synced on Garmin Connect, and when I went to the Garmin watch to extract the file, I was surprised to see that nothing, not even a single folder, was there. I then disconnected the watch and checked my activities history: it said "No Activities Saved"!!! All of my previous saved runs were deleted somehow! The other settings and personal records are still intact, but there are no .FIT files at all on my watch.

I'm on a 13" MacBook Pro with Retina display from late 2013, OS X Yosemite, Version 10.10.3. It's also worth noting that my household's internet at the time was incredibly slow such that I could barely load any webpage with adequate speed, but my run still synced onto Garmin Connect and Strava.

EDIT: My Garmin software was already updated to the latest 3.10 version. Syncing was flawless for quite a while until this particular day.
