the only reason you have not seen it is due to the amount of deletions from a vast array of moderators. don't think i have ever seen this amount of moderators for one forum! if there was someone that could make a decision on installing a vBulletin addon to thwart the spam in the first place we would not need half the moderators here, nor us discussing spam like it normal.
Somehow i don't think it has got any better, apart from last week - when I personally emailed the CEO and got a reply. somehow since then things have gone back to normal and "Spam Deletion" is Garmin's way of spam management. I dread to think what Garmin would be like if they made GPS devices ;)

Definitely IMO, but I don't think it's a vast array of mod's. The length of time spam appears in the forum and then disappears would suggest that only a few in a narrow range of timezones are actively deleting spam.
The very recent flood of spam was admittedly when one of the mods was away for a few days.
I too am puzzled why Garmin appears to do nothing, but the various ways big companies behave has long since ceased to amaze me.
OCR is much better today. The captchas garmin is using does not appear to have anything to attempt to defeat modern OCR software. It just attempts to defeat my 50plus year old eyes. <grin> But who's to say it's not a bunch of kids piled in a room forced to endlessly attempt to logon and post by some greedy !@#@#$%
Unless someone is using a Cray, it seems to me that OCR would slow things down a lot. But when I dome here and see 13 pages of spam, I'm thinking that they must do something else to still be able to spam in volume.
