Help Navigating Garmin Forum

Is there a way I can view this forum without having to scroll past page after page of spam? I see lots of useful information that I would like to read, but it's nearly impossible and very time consuming to have to wade thru all of the garbage. Currently I'm subscribing to my own posts and anything else that looks interesting. Anything else will get lost in the flood of spam.
  • Just don't look in the first level of the Garmin Connect sub-forum. <grin> Well over 90 percent of the forums spam seems to go here. The sub-forums for specific Garmin devices seem to be spam free with a few exceptions. The FAQ and Troubleshooting forums under the Garmin Connect sub-forum also tend to be spam free.

My experience though might not be yours. It may be that the VOLUNTEER moderators that Garmin depends on to clean up the mess live closer to my timezone and maybe there are none near your timezone willing to clean up the spam. So while you are awake viewing the mess, they are asleep and/or exhausted with a sore finger <grin>.

Well the spammers decided to prove me wrong. Possibly the few moderators that care to deal with the spam are elsewhere or have given up. I can't say I'd disagree with them if they did give up on deleting, as from my understanding Garmin chooses to do virtually nothing except depend on the few volunteer/unpaid mods willing to delete spam. And despite requests, they won't even allow more mods to be added to the forum to help with the spam.

So contacting Garmin through the support link or any other method to tell them your disgust might help. Posting in this forum does virtually nothing to change Garmin's views.
  • This mod at least has been away over the weekend. Hoping to catch up now!
  • sussamb ... Thanks! We appreciate your efforts. I know it must be frustrating to deal with all the spam.
  • I see the captcha thingy is in place. However, depending on the time of day I'm reading the forum, there is still tons of spam out there. Not sure if this is slowing them down at all. Slows me down a bit.
  • You shouldn't be seeing much today. If you're seeing tons please report it so we can delete it, must be hanging around from earlier.
  • I'm not seeing any now. I really appreciate that. :D However, I'm usually on the forums at around 11:00 PM (UTC -5). There was quite a bit at that time and it seemed to last for at least 2 hours.
  • I was out for a couple of hours this morning, needed to clear a bit when I got back, so that was possibly why.
